Caretaker / Sites Services Supervisor

Exciting new opportunity for a Caretaker / Sites Services Supervisor to join a hugely popular and highly successful Sixth Form College in Balsall Heath. Caretaker / Sites Services Supervisor will undertake a wide range of duties and responsibilities connected with the College’s sites, buildings, and environment, and to provide an efficient, effective, and professional service as a member of the Sites team.

School Caretaker/Sites Services Supervisor – Duties:

  • Ensure urgent and general maintenance repairs are dealt with or reported and ensure that areas requiring repair are not a source of danger to the occupants or affect the security of the building with due observance of Health and Safety at Work requirements.
  • Monitor and supervise the quality and provision of cleaning services.
  • Identify and carry out minor maintenance and repairs as necessary.
  • To act as key holder and be responsible for the opening and closing of the building.
  • To ensure the building is checked for vandalism and graffiti.
  • General porterage duties, including receipt of goods and reasonable movement of furniture, including the setting up of examinations when required.
  • Provide grounds maintenance, external litter picking as necessary and, when time permits, to ensure tidy access and grass areas.
  • Monitor utilities and report any obvious deficiencies in the system as a matter of urgency.
  • Reporting any faulty fire-fighting equipment and ensuring fire alarms are in good working order, carrying out and record regular health and safety checks.
  • Such other relevant duties as may be required from time to time as instructed.
  • Working at heights i.e. climbing ladders/towers.
  • To assist staff in maintaining an orderly environment in the College and provide backup and support in the event of any incident or disturbance.
  • To monitor car parks and the ground floor area by means of the video monitors.
  • To monitor College’s access control and report problems immediately to senior staff.
  • To act as a First Aider, or willingness to be trained.

School Caretaker / Sites Services Supervisor – The Role:

  • £21, 509 per annum
  • 1-year fixed term contract
  • Immediate start
  • 5 hours a week. Hours will involve working beyond the standard day, therefore flexibility around hours is a must. Times to be agreed.
  • 22 days of leave entitlement. Support staff are expected to take most of their leave during the normal College holidays and not during term time. The leave year runs from 1st September to 31st August. Additionally, support staff receive 8 public holidays, 2 extra-statutory days and 3 local days to be taken during the College closure at Christmas.
