1:1 Graduate Teaching Assistant – Nottingham Primary School

  • Minimum 2:1 and strong A-Levels required

The role will require you to work closely with the SENCo and class teachers to provide tailored support to children with additional emotional and behavioural. These children require specific support and encouragement to stay motivated to achieve their potential and would benefit from a friendly, consistent and positive role model to enable them to reach their potential.

Part of this role will be supporting some children during play times and within the classroom, assisting the teacher in this challenging environment. They will thrive from caring, yet structured 1:1 support, who can support him to achieve his potential both academically and personally.

Part of this role will require you to build strong and lasting relationships with the children’s parents and hold regular catch up meetings with them, the class teacher and the SENCo. You will be given all relevant training to be able to monitor, adapt and progress this child’s development to ensure that they have the same access to educational opportunities and remains in a mainstream setting.

This role ideally requires a resilient, motivated and committed graduate who is keen to work in a supportive 1:1 role within the classroom. You will be passionate about a career in teaching or education, and need to have relevant experience working with children with varied educational and behavioural needs and have excellent behaviour management and communication skills. Due to the nature of this role, previous experience working with children or young people in challenging environments is highly desirable. This does not have to be in an educational setting, but will have to be transferable into this setting.
