As a Chemistry Graduate Teaching Assistant and Academic Coach you will need to have a Chemistry degree, display a passion for your subject, and communicate clearly with both students and staff. A genuine commitment to pursuing a career in education and a keen interest to do this through School Direct is highly beneficial, as well as the ability to work flexibly throughout two key roles. It would be ideal if you had some experience working within an educational setting previously but this is not essential as full training will be given.
The Teaching Assistant element of this role will see you supporting the class teacher across all year groups, to ensure that the students in this vibrant school are on track and achieving their potential. As well as this, you will be helping to create resources and even lead elements of the lesson, giving you the opportunity to develop you teaching skills.
The Academic Coach part of this role will predominately see you providing essential support in class and out by working with pupils in small groups and on a 1:1 basis. You will have the opportunity to develop your own resources in collaboration with department staff and deliver them in your own interventions. This part of the role is hugely important for the development of confidence, enthusiasm and appreciation of Science.
