Geography Teacher | School Information:
This school is genuinely one of the most inclusive and welcoming secondary schools in the area. Staff are very passionate to deliver the very highest quality education so that students receive the tools to succeed. The head teacher’s motto is to promote the best in everyone; this vision doesn’t only apply to students, but staff also!
The head teacher is very keen to ensure staff well-being is monitored and promoted. She is also very supportive: when staff have previously expressed an interest in promotion opportunities, she has enabled them to achieve this goal. This has been achieved through excellent training and support throughout.
The staff group are cohesive and team-spirited. Resources and ideas are frequently exchanged. There are even a number of staff sports teams, which has been great for boosting staff morale in recent years.
The school is located within the borough of Waltham Forest. Many of the students are from low socio-economic background, with a high number of students being disadvantaged. The head is keen to meet with a Geography teacher who can become a positive role model for the students here. You should also have a strong desire to work in this school context, with a passion to support children who are disadvantaged.
Over 80% of students are EAL and a diverse range of languages are spoken. Despite low literacy levels upon entry, the students here make exceptional progress, with many students leaving at 18 in order to study at Russell Group universities. Last year the Progress 8 score was above 0.5 – meaning this school is in the top 20% of schools nationally!
