This fantastic Primary School in Leeds is looking to hire a recent Psychology degree to join the experienced SEN department to give students the best support and help possible.

The role – In this role you will be working as part of a committed SEN department in giving the best opportunities possible to children with extra behavioural needs or SEN/SEMH. As a Graduate Teaching Assistant you will be required to conduct 1:1 sessions with pupils in the SEN structure, and use your communication skills and subject knowledge to keep the pupil comfortable and safe when in their company. As well as your subject knowledge, you must have a good amount of knowledge of core subjects, and be able to support children with learning difficulties and help them to perform to their best ability.

The School – In this School you will be part of a warm and supportive SEN department with a number of years in experience which will be a huge help in settling in and learning about the school itself. A friendly and supportive head teacher, you will be given the chance to progress further in the school once your year working is completed due to their teacher training programme. Under the guidance of a brilliant and experienced SENCO you will be conforming to the individual plan for each child and helping them develop their curriculum knowledge, improving their futures.

The Graduate – The successful graduate must have a 2:1 degree in Psychology or a related subject and have a suitable amount of knowledge of core subjects at a primary school level. You will need to have experience working with SEN children previously, and be confident to deliver interventions independently. They must have a positive and friendly attitude when working with both students and staff, allowing the student to feel comfortable and supported during 1:1 sessions.
