The Role:

As an EAL Teaching Assistant you will support international new arrivals who need additional support learning English as a second language. You will use a variety of strategies and resources to aid and support the learning of EAL students. This role is well suited to someone who is looking to become a teacher in the future as the experience and knowledge you will gain will be invaluable. You will run small group and 1:1 interventions to support student learning within English to ensure they gain the best quality education.

Person Specification:

You must have a UK degree, all core subject degree subjects will be considered if you have recently achieved a 2.1 or above. Ideally you should have experience working with EAL students previously whether in the UK or teaching English overseas and/or a TEFL or similar qualification. You should be passionate about providing an inclusive education and have a desire to work within education. Last year the school appointed a graduate EAL teaching assistant for this role who has now secured a teacher training course and has started their training this September. The knowledge and skills gained from this EAL TA position will provide the successful applicant with invaluable knowledge and skills.
