Graduate Learning Mentor – What does the role entail?
This graduate learning mentor role will entail working with small groups of students who require additional support in order to reach their potential. The majority of students you work with will be respectful and polite. The students here are eager to learn and usually give 100%.
In the first week you will receive foundation training and support from outstanding teachers. You will be shown how to plan and deliver small group interventions in your role as a graduate learning mentor.
As your experience and confidence grows you will have the opportunity to take on more responsibility. The experience you gain as a graduate learning mentor will be invaluable to your future career. If you are an aspiring teacher, you will learn the foundational skills required so that in the future you can become an excellent teacher. Or, alternatively, if you are not yet sure whether teaching is a career for you, this role will definitely allow you to fully consider whether it’s right for you.

This graduate learning mentor role is situated within a large secondary school and sixth form. It is a very welcoming and inclusive learning environment. The head teacher is supportive and passionate about enabling new staff to truly excel through excellent teaching and mentoring.

Graduate Learning Mentor – What are the requirements?
You must be a recent graduate with a passion to support young people in their learning.
You should have a 2.1 or 1st degree. Any degree subjects will be considered. Core subjects: English, Maths, Science, Humanities, ICT & Computing. Other degrees are considered for example: Law, Accounting, Business & Economics, amongst others.
You must be an excellent communicator who can build rapport with a range of people.
Ideally you will have gained previous experience working with young people, for example in a tutoring role.
