Graduate Learning Mentor – Person Specification:
To be successful in this graduate learning mentor role you must be a confident communicator who can engage with youngsters of all abilities and backgrounds. You must be an emphatic person who can offer appropriate support to students who have special educational needs. Prior knowledge or experience working with young people is advantageous in your application. You should be a graduate, ideally with a core subject degree.
Graduate Learning Mentor – The role:
For this graduate learning mentor role you will spend some of your time providing in-class support to students who require additional intervention to reach their GCSE or A Level target. This role will also include one to one mentoring of SEN students, plus one to one tutoring of entry-level work to a student who is low ability.
You will be required to deliver booster sessions to small groups of students who require additional tutoring.
Please note you do not need to have prior experience of delivering intervention sessions similar to this, however if you do have experience supporting students in another capacity, please make this known in your application.
Graduate Learning Mentor – The School:
The Graduate Learning Mentor role is based in an ‘Outstanding’ Secondary School in Havering.
From September you will also have the opportunity to train to teach at this school, should you wish to do so. Teacher training here is available within a number of different subjects.
There is on-site car parking for those who drive and direct bus routes to and from various nearby boroughs. Recently the school has received an ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted grading and there are a number of other graduate learning mentors who will be able to support you in your first few weeks of the role.
