This opportunity will give you fabulous experience as a Graduate Learning Support Mentor in this vibrant and driven secondary school. You will primarily be supporting this school to ensure that the aspirations and confidence of these groups of pupils are raised and they have the opportunity to be successful and remain in school. Many of the young people in this school are from what is considered a disadvantaged background and come into school with low levels of confidence, self-esteem and communication skills.
You will be given all relevant training needed to deliver the curriculum and implement strategies to maximise the outcomes for these students and be able to tailor your approach and monitor progress.
In this role, you will be working alongside teachers to offer support on a 1:1 and small group basis. Most of these students have an individual learning and support plan that you will follow, however you will have the flexibility to implement behaviour and learning strategies that you feel will really make a difference.
You will need to have the ability to build rapport with pupils, staff and parents at time. You will need to have a minimum of a 2:1 degree, preferably in a core subject or Psychology. It is essential that you have some transferable experience from university or voluntary roles, but this doesn’t have to be in a school setting.
The School is rated as Ofsted Good and is a hub of the community, where it supports not only the children that attend the school, but also the families and friends of the community who bring up these children. It has an excellent reputation within the community and has a focus on achievement and growth. All current staff have a passion to support new staff on their career move and progression. It is located within close proximity to Birmingham City Centre (Kings Norton) and is easily commutable from the surrounding areas.
If you feel that you have what it takes to remain resilient and positive in challenging yet highly rewarding role, then send your CV to Jamie at i-teachers today!
