Graduate Science Support Mentor – Secondary School – Bradford (BD7)

This exciting and developing Secondary School in Bradford is looking to hire a recent Science graduate, keen on taking their first steps in a teaching career, by joining an experienced and enthusiastic Science department committed to giving the best education possible to its students.

Graduate Science Support Mentor

  • Organising and conducting class Science sessions as a Graduate Science Support Mentor
  • Working in groups and 1:1 with students
  • Ability to learn from a fantastic SEN department
  • Option of progressing into teacher training
  • Supportive and inspiring leadership team
  • Minimum 2:1 Science based degree
  • Strong subject knowledge (Chemistry, Physics, Biology)
  • Paid £300-£325 per week, term time only
  • Opportunity to progress into teacher training

As a Graduate Science Support Mentor you will be helping children in small groups and in 1:1 sessions with the curriculum, and making sure that they are receiving the best education possible by using your own subject knowledge to help expand their understanding of the topics being taught. You will be using your communication skills to educate the students on each part of the curriculum, helping to make sure that they understand the points being made, and allowing them to feel comfortable and enthusiastic under you tutelage.

In this role you will need to have a passion for the subject, displayed to the students throughout the classes that you are conducting, as this will help to enhance their enthusiasm for the subject and make sure that they are committed to the lesson at all times. As well as this you will need a strong amount of subject knowledge, making sure that what your saying is correct and relevant to the topics being taught. You will need to have fantastic communication skills at all times, and makes sure that all children are interacting and feel involved in the class, as well as achieving to their best possible ability. A minimum 2:1 Science degree is required, and prior experience working with children would be ideal.

This school has a fantastic Science department, containing both experienced and developing staff members, working together as a driven team to make sure that the curriculum is being taught properly and that each child has the best opportunity of achieving. You will be supported by a Leadership Team containing the head of the department, who will be monitoring your progress and open to any questions you may have.
