Graduate role working 1:1 with a pupil with additional social, emotional and behavioural needs (SEMH)


Are you an aspiring educational psychologist who has graduated from university with a 2:1 or higher in your psychology degree, with an interest in supporting those with SEMH/Behavioural needs?


Perhaps you are keen to gain experience in a secondary school based setting in order to be accepted on your educational psychology course, whilst earning up to £325 per week?


Have you developed a passion for supporting children with emotional and behavioural difficulties from previous experience gained during your time at university and want to apply this within a teaching assistant role?


A Secondary school in Leeds are looking to appoint well-rounded Psychology graduates to join their inclusion/SEN team and provide 1:1 support for a number of children with emotional and behavioural difficulties to help them overcome barriers to learning… could this be the perfect role for you?


Graduate SEMH Teaching Assistant – Behaviour

  • Graduate- 2:1 or higher (Psychology or related degree)
  • Previous experience working with SEN/SEMH required
  • Perfect school based experience
  • School based in Leeds
  • Passion for supporting behavioural needs
  • Full-time during term time, start September
  • Earn up to £325 per week


The schools that we work with in Leeds and Bradford are renowned for providing excellent training and development programmes for their support staff, giving them the required skills they need to build on their past experience and provide them with all the attributes required to be an educational psychologist.


To be considered for this role you must be a graduate with a passion for supporting children with SEN/SEMH, with a particular interest in behaviour – you will need to be supportive and caring with a “firm but fair” approach. We want to see graduates with the ambition to become Educational Psychologists or Child Psychologists keen to build relevant experience in a paid role providing support on a 1:1 basis with a child who has autism and communication difficulties.


The extensive support you will be given from a seasoned SENCo will put you in a great position to kick-start your role as an educational psychologist and this role could be perfect for you.
