Are you a graduate with a 1st or 2:1 degree with experience working with children?

Do you want to gain paid experience for a full academic year in the same school before pursuing a teacher training course?

If so, we want to hear from you. We are looking for Early Years, Education/Childcare, Psychology and Core subject graduates to support in your specialist subject. We have roles across in EY, KS1 and KS2, where you could support those with SEN, EAL, challenging behaviour, deliver core subject interventions or even be a cover supervisor!

Graduate Teaching Assistant – What do I need?

General (for all specialisms)

  • 1st class or 2:1 in your specialist degree
  • Strong academic background
  • Experience working with children – essential but can be in any setting
  • Tutoring/Mentoring/TEFL/cover work – desirable!
  • Considering becoming a future teacher


Core subject interventions roles:

  • Experience working with young people in your subject/area is a must!
  • Previous intervention experience – desirable

EAL roles:

  • Experience working with EAL pupils previously
  • Bi-lingual is a bonus

Cover Supervisor roles:

  • Must have covered lessons before
  • Strong subject knowledge e.g. A-levels
  • Core subject A-levels desirable
  • Strong behaviour and classroom management

Behaviour roles:

  • Previous experience working with challenging behaviour in any setting
  • Experience in a PRU environment is desirable but not essential

SEN roles:

  • Must have experience in special education needs
  • Aware of strategies/methods to help those with SEN
  • Autism experience is desirable
