Teaching Assistant – Sports Science Graduate:

This unique and caring secondary academy in the heart of Leeds is an academy which specialises in the educating and supporting of students with SEMH, and making sure that they are able to have the same opportunities as they would in a mainstream school. They have a passionate Senior Leadership Team, intent on being able to deliver the best possible education to the students and acquiring the best blend of staff to help make this possible. They create individualised learning schemes for students, which helps them to work at their own pace and not feel pressured inside the school environment, so they can get an extensive understanding of the subject and properly explore the curriculum in their own way.

Information about your role:

In this role you will have the unique opportunity to work alongside experienced staff members, education and supporting children with additional behavioural needs and allowing them to feel safe and comfortable inside what could be an unfamiliar environment for them. You will be working across a number of subject, primarily P.E offering the students close support and guidance with any queries or difficulties they may have, and display your ability to keep the student calm and focused during challenging scenarios.

What do I need to apply?

To apply for this unique and exciting job role, you will firstly need to have obtained a minimum 2:1 sports science degree, with a number of strong A Levels. You must have brilliant organisation skills, able to recognise specific needs and queries students may have helping you to structure and conduct your lessons alongside the teacher with precision. Good communication skills are vital, as they will help keep the student remain calm in challenging situations. Furthermore, you must have a patient and understanding attitude towards the students, as you will face difficult scenarios throughout the school week, in which solutions will need to be found.
