EAL Teaching Assistant – Role Description
- Long term role, no daily supply
- Full-time, Mon-Fri
- Paid teaching placement, £375-£450 per week (term-time only)
- Offer tailored 1:1 support to students to students with Special Educational Needs
- Work primarily with students who speak English as a second language
- Plan and support in intervention sessions
- Identify which students could benefit from tailored support
- Encourage students to engage in work and give praise on improvements
- This role could lead to teacher training directly with the school
EAL Teaching Assistant – Person Specification
- 2:1 or above (MFL graduate preferred)
- Prior experience working with speakers of other languages
- Strong A Levels and academic background
- Passion for education
- TEFL/EAL qualifications would be advantageous but not essential
- Experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to adapt to different learning needs
