EAL Teaching Assistant – Role Description

  • Long term role, no daily supply
  • Full-time, Mon-Fri
  • Paid teaching placement, £375-£450 per week (term-time only)
  • Offer tailored 1:1 support to students to students with Special Educational Needs
  • Work primarily with students who speak English as a second language
  • Plan and support in intervention sessions
  • Identify which students could benefit from tailored support
  • Encourage students to engage in work and give praise on improvements
  • This role could lead to teacher training directly with the school

EAL Teaching Assistant – Person Specification

  • 2:1 or above (MFL graduate preferred)
  • Prior experience working with speakers of other languages
  • Strong A Levels and academic background
  • Passion for education
  • TEFL/EAL qualifications would be advantageous but not essential
  • Experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to adapt to different learning needs
