About the Role:

This role is perfect for the aspiring teacher! You will kick-start your experience by supporting the class teacher with the delivery of planned lessons and activities and assist with behaviour management.

Once you are up to speed with Curriculum objectives and resources, you will then have the opportunity to lead small group and 1:1 interventions in English, specifically supporting with confidence in exam techniques, as well as supporting with any content gaps the students may have. You will work with a range of students from those that are lower ability, to those who need an extra challenge aside from their work.

As your confidence grows, you will begin to cover lessons throughout all Key Stages and assist with the planning of lessons, to give you a fascinating and valuable insight into the world of teaching. This is fantastic opportunity to equip you with the skills and knowledge to become an outstanding teacher!

Person Specification:

This inspiring school are looking for an ambitious and dedicated English graduate who is keen to take up a graduate teaching assistant role in anticipation of training to teach in the next academic year.

You should be an assertive individual who can get involved in the daily running of the school from day one, working with young people to inspire them with a love of learning. You must be a high-achieving graduate of an English based subject with good GCSE’s and A Levels.

You will be supporting students predominantly within the English department but an overall ability within maths, science and English is essential as in order to go on to teacher training in the future you must possess at least a C in these subjects.

The school is an 11-18 secondary with sixth form and is in Haringey. There are fantastic public transport links to Central and East London.
