The role – English Graduate Teaching Assistant 

Assisting students within the English department to achieve their potential will be the aim of the English Graduate Teaching Assistant role. You will work with students from a range of backgrounds and abilities via well-planned and resourced small group intervention sessions which you will lead. Some of the students you support will be pupil premium learners meaning they are supported through additional intervention sessions to ensure they do not fall behind their peers. As a key member of the English department, your role as a learning mentor, will entail assisting the teachers by contributing your ideas to staff meetings and planning sessions.

Person Specification – English Graduate Teaching Assistant

To be considered for the role you must have at least a 2.1 degree in an English subject degree such as Language, Literature, Linguistics or other similar degree. You must have a good academic background including strong A Levels and GCSEs. Also, any experience working with young people previously is also preferred, but not essential. If you have had experience for example tutoring or working with a child-based voluntary programme please make this evident in your CV.
