Deputy head – English: the role:

• Start: September 2024
• Permanent contract
• Full-time
• Responsible to head of department
• Support the Head of Department to lead and manage the provision to ensure that a high-quality experience is delivered in line with college targets that meets the needs of the students and the local community and delivers excellent achievement
• Work with colleagues across the designated curricula to deliver a quality focused learner experience, which engages, inspires and prepares learners for the world of work
• Input into the development and evolution of a responsive, relevant, curriculum offer
• Work with marketing, communications and events colleagues to define a clear proposition to individual learners of all ages within the curriculum responsibility
• Teach a minimum of 540 hours on a range of courses, as required, demonstrating high standards of teaching, learning and attainment, whilst ensuring continuous improvement in own teaching to support positive learner outcomes

Candidate specification – what the college are looking for:

• UK QTS
• NQTs are welcome to apply
• 2:1 or 1st class degree, in a relevant course
• Strong academic background
• Successful candidates will be subject to an enhanced DBS
• Good to Outstanding teacher observation grades
• Strong classroom management
• Make an active and positive contribution to team meetings, one to one sessions with line managers and the appraisal process
• Undertake continuing personal and work related professional and skills development
