Head of English – the role:

· Start: September 2024

· Permanent contract

· Full-time: 37 hours per week

· Responsible to assistant principle

· To co-ordinate and lead the implementation of the English education programmes and schemes of work to enable high quality teaching and learning for exam-based English.

· Work collaboratively with all staff in these areas to maximise

· Work closely with the Curriculum Administrator to ensure the efficient and effectively dissemination of information and administration related to the subject.

· Collaborate with the Heads of Curriculum on a regularly basis so that there is strong communication between you and the curriculum areas.

· Lead all Area staff in the analysis of data to monitor learner progress effectively.

· Introduce, implement and monitor online resources to enhance learner development

Candidate specification – what the college are looking for:

· UK QTS

· NQTs are welcome to apply

· 2:1 or 1st class degree, in a relevant course

· Strong academic background

· Good to Outstanding teacher observation grades

· Strong classroom management

· Clear understanding of the 16 to 19 funding: English and English condition of funding

· A commitment to promote and lead on whole college developments and work as a member of the management team to deliver results
