Primary SEN Teaching Assistant
This nurturing and diverse school is looking for a talented graduate with relevant experience to work 1:1 as a Primary SEN Teaching Assistant with a Year 5 pupil with autism.

Primary SEN Teaching Assistant – About the Role:
This role is a unique and highly rewarding opportunity to work with an enthusiastic and happy child, who has specific personal development needs. You will spend your time working 1:1 within in the classroom and in the playground during play time and lunch time. This child requires enthusiastic support and encouragement to interact with classmates and other children throughout school, in order to develop their social awareness and personal development. He is in Year 5 and has ASD, therefore he requires somebody who is able to build a rapport with him and provide consistency at all times. Academically, he is behind and with SATS coming up and the transition into Secondary school, it is essential that he is provided with excellent support.
Person Specification:
You will need to have a minimum of a 2:1 degree, ideally in Psychology, however other subjects will be considered if you have the right knowledge and experience. The ideal candidate will be committed to career in education or Educational Psychology and will have some experience working with children with Special Educational Needs. You will need to have a caring and understanding approach to working with children, and be able to easily think on your feet in challenging environments. This child can display challenging and unpredictable behaviour, so you will need to be resilient, patient and physically fit!
