Reading Support Mentor – Key Information

• English Graduate role – Literature or Language
• Excellent role prior to teacher training
• Work with pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis
• Full-time role for one academic year
• Work Monday – Friday, school hours
• September start

Reading Support Mentor – Person Specification

• 2:1 or above English degree
• You must be available from September 2024 – July 2025
• Experience is working with children is not necessary, however any previous tutoring experience would be advantageous
• Resilience, determination and commitment is key to this role
• Willingness to adhere to local safeguarding arrangements, data protection, and other compliance protocols as defined by the host school

Reading Support Mentor – About the role

You will be required to support pupils who have low reading levels and need intervention to increase their achievements. You will set short term goals with the class teachers for individual pupils and support the pupils in achieving these. This role has a mixture of pastoral and academic duties so you will have a variety of experience across the whole school. In addition to this you will assist the class teacher in lessons ensuring progress is being made.
